The Clever Eli Victorian Modern Cursive book set is a reusable, grooved handwriting book that teaches children to form letters correctly through touch, movement and repetition. It uses Victorian Modern Cursive, the font most WA schools use, so the letters your child practises at home match the ones they learn in class.
Four stages in the Victorian Modern Cursive book
This set builds handwriting skills in four stages:
- Lines: Simple tracing lines develop basic pen control.
- Shapes and patterns: Tracing shapes and interesting patterns builds fine motor skills.
- Letters and numbers: Children trace the whole alphabet in upper and lower case, plus numbers 1–10, and learn to place letters correctly between guide lines.
- Sight words: Children trace common words.

Each letter sits in a groove on the page, so the groove guides the pen along the correct path. How to use it at home

- Transfer: Move the same letters and words into a dotted thirds exercise book or regular lined book, so the skill carries over into everyday writing.
