Marisa provided small group literacy support to our son in 2020. She understood the challenges he faced and worked with him to make progress week after week. Our son who takes a long time to warm up to people thought Marisa was (in his words) 'The best teacher ever'. We are so grateful for the time Marisa spent working with our son and know that it laid solid foundations for his continuation through his primary school years.

As a classroom teacher, the work that Marisa has done with my students over the years goes far beyond that of a tutor. She has a gentle and caring approach and is able to build every students self esteem and skills. The students (and teachers) love her for it!

In my role as a school psychologist, I have worked with Marisa on specific cases for at least five years regarding literacy and Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD's). I have consulted Marisa who has extensive knowledge on literacy (reading, writing, spelling) and she has consulted me. I have seen Marisa 'in action' as a tutor and I highly recommend her if you are wanting someone who has extensive knowledge regarding the best ways to teach and best programs to assist children with SLD's, such as Dyslexia & Dysgraphia. Marisa would also be an excellent tutor for those who are not diagnosed with an SLD but would like/need a bit of extra support in literacy.

I shared an office with Marisa at Doubleview Primary in 2020 while she tutored students for the DSF. Her tutoring was founded on an excellent rapport with her students, and they really enjoyed coming. She often collaborated with teachers, always willing to share insights to support the student's learning.

Our daughter was having a tough time at school and came home in tears asking why she doesn't ever understand the work they are doing in class, she always feels dumb and no one understands...my heart broke. After a big chat and lots of cuddles I still sent her to literacy tutoring. Her dad picked her up and she had the BIGGEST smile on her face and was glowing. She said she had the best tutoring session she has ever had. Thank you so much for turning what was a very tough time where she felt completely overwhelmed with school into a really good time.

I'm reaching out to thank you for your support of my girl all those years ago! This week she was named in the West Australian with a certificate of merit and has been offered her dream of nursing and midwifery. What you and the teachers provided my girl really did create the stepping stones for success. Thank you.
