Step 1: Initial literacy assessment with Marisa
Every new student begins with an initial assessment, which I carry out myself, so I know exactly where to start your child on the program. The one-off intake fee includes:
- my review of any previous formal testing and reports, to understand your child’s strengths and challenges
- a 90-minute baseline assessment using the South Australian Spelling Test, the York Assessment of Reading for Comprehension (YARC) and a curriculum-based assessment, to place your child in the right program and design it around them
- a written literacy intervention plan from me, outlining your child’s program goals and recommendations
I also use this assessment as a benchmark to measure your child’s growth throughout the program.
Step 2: Weekly tutoring sessions
After the assessment, I book your child in for a weekly session with one of our literacy teachers or literacy specialists, either at our Floreat hall or at their school.

Step 3: Term-based bookings
Tutoring follows the school term, with a set number of sessions each term. Your invoice will list each session date. If you know of any dates your child can’t attend, please let us know in advance so we can plan around them.
Tutoring fees
- Initial intake fee (one-off): $260
- Tutoring session with a Literacy Teacher: $125
- Tutoring session with a Literacy Specialist: $130
Just like dancing or swimming lessons, I invoice families at the start of each term for the set number of weeks in that term.
I offer a 10% discount to families with two or more children attending, and to children attending more than one session per week.
Missed sessions
If your child is unwell and can’t attend, our teachers will do their best to offer a make-up session, either online or on another day. If a make-up session isn’t possible, we’ll credit the missed session to the following term. We don’t offer refunds for missed sessions.
