Writing is a lot like cooking…you follow a recipe and eventually you learn to remember it. Firstly, the ingredients you choose will determine how the recipe tastes! Then, as your confidence in your cooking abilities improves, you learn to substitute one ingredient for another and discover what tastes better.
At Sensory Learning Services, we use this simple analogy to teach sentence structure. The recipe is what we refer to as a ‘writing framework’ and the ingredients are your choice of ‘words/ vocabulary’.
With our simple approach, we provide you with checklists, vocabulary lists and sentence starting prompts to construct sentences. The benefit of this approach is that it reduces fears around writing, allowing you to attempt writing tasks with ease and to eventually experiment with different vocabulary with confidence.
