Many parents ask `How can I help my child at home?’ In response, I host 90 min one on one online zoom sessions to empower parents with the knowledge and skills to support reading, spelling and writing development at home.
I will shed light on ‘what not to do’ and common practices that have a negative and detrimental impact on reading and spelling development in children. The sessions will show you how to correctly address error corrections and provide practical tips and tools based on best teaching practices so you can feel confident to successfully navigate your child’s journey of learning to read, spell and write.
Who are the sessions for?
Due to the strong genetic component, learning difficulties are familial and we are here to support parents who may also have the same learning difficulty as their child. We are also here to support ALL parents as well as student teachers wishing to be better prepared for prac in order to support their students.
- Anyone wanting to effectively help a child learn to read, spell and write
- Anyone with a child who has just started school
- Anyone concerned about their child’s lack of progress
- Anyone who has a child with dyslexia
- Anyone who has a child with dysgraphia
- Anyone who homeschools
Based on the science of reading, the sessions are specifically designed for parents who are unsure of how they should be helping their child at home.
In fact, we recommend all the parents of our students to book in for a session so they can use the same methods at home that we use in our tutoring sessions.
Online Sessions:
The sessions are a direct response to parents requests for information on `How can I help my child at home?’ Choose from one of the topics below:
- Reading Made Easy – how to facilitate reading and discover ‘what not to do’ with your child
- Spelling Made Easy – how to facilitate spelling and discover ‘what not to do’ with your child
- Sentence Writing Made Easy – explicitly teach your child an easy to learn strategy for correct sentence structure. This session is a game changer for kids writing!!
- Persuasive Writing Made Easy – teach your child an easy framework with built in sentence starters to guarantee a successful persuasive response. This easy to follow writing framework can be applied to any persuasive writing topic!
Sessions are relaxed and allow for plenty of opportunity to ask me questions as you learn to apply the techniques being explained and demonstrated. You will also have the opportunity to receive useful tips specific to your child.
Cost:
$130 for a personalised 90min online zoom session. Payment is required prior.
